What is the difference between a public and a private event?
Public event is available to anyone. It may even be viewed by people who do not have an EventSpot account. Public events represent galleries that should be publicly available, such as photos taken at a concert. Any EventSpot user may add their content to any public event.
Private event is an event available only to people who have been explicitly invited to it. Private events should be created when you want to share your private photos or movies with chosen friends only. Private events may be visible or invisible. Visible private events titles are shown in the search results, but people who were not invited to them cannot access their content. Invisible private events are invisible in the whole system and only people invited to them may see and access them. -

What does it mean for an event to be private, but visible?
The 'visible' property of a private event indicates whether the event's title is visible in the portal. If it is set to true, users may see the event's title in the search results, on your profile page and on their main page, in the section "Events created by my friends". Users, who were not invited to this event, will still not be able to access this event's content. -
May I ask event's creator to grant me access to their private event?
Yes. If the event's creator is your friend and a private event is set to be visible, you may click on its title to ask event's creator for a privilege to this event. The event's creator may either accept or reject your privilege request. -
Can I invite users who are not my friends to a private event?
Yes, but they will have to agree to become your friends before they can access the event. -
May I invite people who do not have an EventSpot account to view my private events?
Yes. One of the cool features of EventSpot is that you can invite to your private events people who do not have an EventSpot account yet. They will receive an email with an invitation and when they activate their account, they will become your friends automatically. Since then they will be able to access your private event with the privilege level that you had defined for them. -
What is the difference between an invitation to friends and invitation to event and friends?
Invitation to friends is just an invitation to the user, who is not your friend yet, to become your friend. This person may either accept or reject this invitation. Invitation to event and friends is an invitation to the private event sent to the user who is not your friend yet. This invitation may be accepted or rejected by its recipient. In case of rejection, the recipient does not become your friend and is not granted with any privileges to the event! -
May I reject invitation to an event?
If you are inviter's friend, an invitation to a private event is displayed for your information only, so that you know you have been granted with privileges to this event. You cannot reject it, nor accept it.
If you and the inviter are not friends yet, you may reject the invitation to event. By doing so, you do not become the inviter's friend and you are not granted with any privileges to the event. -
How do I add users to my friends list?
To add a user to your friends, go to the "Users" screen. Search for a person who you would like to invite or just find this person in the list below. Then go to this person's profile by clicking on their profile picture. In the menu on the left, you will see an "Invite to friends" option. -
